Bennett (Construction) Ltd have recently completed the construction of student accommodation located within the Digital Hub campus on Thomas Street in Dublin.
The project was a design & build contract and comprised of 471 student bed spaces over 2 blocks ABC & DE.
Blocks ABC consists of circa 8,372 sq.m and ranges in height from 7 floor plates to 11 including roof.
Block DE consists of 5675 sq.m and ranges from 5 floor plates to 9 including the roof.
The two blocks are divided by a new street named Roes Lane and it provides pedestrian access from Bonham Street to Thomas Street through the Digital Hub campus at St Patrick’s Tower.
The construction of the substructure included 360no X 450mm CFA piles with cast in-situ rising elements with a 250mm in-situ flat concrete slab over.
The envelope consists of 225mm hollow block inner leaf with 150mm cavity closing out with a brick outer leaf with aluminium tilt and turn window and louvered dressings.
The building contains 461 pre finished shower room pods with 10 no disabled w/c rooms.
The inner walls are mainly fire & acoustic rated partitions which form clusters. The clusters range from 3 - 8 bed spaces with each cluster having a shared kitchen area. The kitchens contain built in units, appliances with dining and rest areas and TV facility.
