Bennett Construction were appointed as the Civil / Structural / Architectural contractor for upgrade works to the Bristol Myers Squibb facility in Swords which was completed in June 2006. The 4 month contract covered the P8 / P9 refit which included strip out and reconstruction of changing areas, services diversions internally and externally, new pipe bridges and equipment plinths, rebunding of hazardous storage areas and roof alterations for plant and equipment. The works were carried out in a live pharmaceutical facility and so a strict Health Safety regime was implemented to ensure minimal risk to the clients core activities. Our permit to work procedures were adapted to meet client needs and sign off to ensure that our workforce were at all times working in a safe environment whilst ensuring that no disruption took place to the core activities of this very large bulk pharmaceutical plant. . The Project Managers / Designers for the works were Jacobs Engineering with whom we worked a number of times in the past including the fit out works (Haematology Labs) to the Irish Blood Transfusion Service Headquarters.
