The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), have appointed Bennett (Construction) Ltd as the Assigned Builder and in the role of PSCS on the development of a new state of the art academic and education building on York Street in Dublin.
The new RCSI New Academic and Education Building is the largest redevelopment project in the City Centre in recent years.
The building comprises a state of the art surgical and clinical training suite containing a flexible wet lab, mock operating theatre, clinical training wards, standardised patients rooms and task training rooms.
It will also include a 540 seat auditorium, a library spanning three floors with 500 study spaces, a sports hall and fitness suite. Construction started in 2014 and will be completed by late 2016.
The gross floor area of the proposed building is approx. 12,000m2 and is to be constructed primarily of insitu concrete frame with structural steel elements incorporated from Basement minus 4 (B-4) to 5th floor.
The new Third Level Education Building is to be built upon the site of a previous uncompleted scheme which contained a basement box element only which is being incorporated into the new development
