The work involved the construction of a large new concourse between the train hall and the existing office building to the east of the train hall, with a new public entrance through the existing listed building. Considerable planning and coordination was involved in the demolition and reconstruction of part of the existing listed building, followed by phased construction of a new atrium and roof to the train hall, construction of the concourse floor and the provision of engineering services. This development received a Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland Regional Award in recognition of the design techniques used.
